Layout Update and GenCon

Hello folks,

Still alive here. I've spent a lot of time getting up to speed on Adobe InDesign and think I've got a pretty good handle on it. I went through everything my layout guy did, fixed a couple issues that I'd been told couldn't be fixed, and made a bunch of miscellaneous tweaks here and there to improve it. I will say that he was doing a wonderful job, and I don't know where I'd be without him.

I have to admit that I'm slowed down a bit because of GenCon and all the preparation that requires. My original plan was to have all of this finished before convention season, but alas...now convention season is causing a delay in the work.

I will be running a few games of Pythos at GenCon. If you happen to be going to GenCon and didn't know about them, you should take a look HERE. As of my writing this, there are still a few seats open for my Crimson Colosseum module on Saturday and Sunday. You could even show up to a sold-out game with generic tickets, and you might get a seat from a no-show.

That's all for now. I can't apologize enough for the delays in the schedule.

Status Update - Layout Progress

Layout Delays

It's been a rough month for me. A lot of family things came up one right after another.

On top of that, my layout guy quit (for personal reasons) after completing almost 200 pages. This means I will have to finish the layout myself. I will have to get up to speed on InDesign and pick up where he left off.

The good news is that he did the stuff that I couldn't do myself, which is the page art and decorative features. I know where my weaknesses are, and that's why I pay people to draw things for me.

The reason I won't go find someone else to finish the layout for me now is that it would likely take just as long finding the right person and getting them up to speed. Better that I just finish it myself and know that it will look good according to my high standards.

Ultimately, this is a huge delay. I will continue to provide updates on the timeline as I dig into it.

Page-count

Another big piece of news is that it looks like the book may reach around 300 pages, which is quite larger than I had originally planned. However, we had deliberately increased the font size and added space for readability.

The pages look gorgeous and I hope you agree.

Surveys Locked Down in One Week

On May 25th at 11:59pm EDT, I will be locking down backer surveys on Backerkit.

I need to do this to lock in answers to survey questions before finalizing the book layout. However, you will still be able to update your address at any time until the shipping process begins (still months away sadly).

Pre-orders will be left open for now. I will make another announcement when that will be locked, at which time credit cards will be charged for Backerkit add-ons and pre-orders.

There are still 4 people that haven't answered their surveys. If you are one of these people, look for another email reminder from Backerkit. Check your spam folder. Without an answered survey, I cannot ship your rewards.
